Defects / After Care Manager – Client side - Residential PRS / BtR portfolio – Reading

Our client is an exceptionally well-funded investment, development and management business focusing on the single-family housing PRS market.  They have expanded rapidly over recent years with a number of high-profile acquisitions and with ambitious growth plans and a £500+ million development pipeline they are looking to hire a Defects / After Care Manager based out of their Reading office.

Remuneration:
£45,000 - £50,000 + benefits + Bonus

The Role:
The Defect / After Care Manager will become a key part of the development and operational team based out of our client’s Reading office.  You will be responsible for overseeing and resolving serious defects across the single family PRS portfolio managing the development partners aftercare teams and appointing and managing your consultant team (EA / Clerk of works) during the defect rectification period.

This will be a relatively autonomous role reporting into the head of projects and will be a key part of the ongoing development process, feeding lessons learn back into the future design templates and therefore good communication and relationships building ability with property management, consultants, facilities and operational teams, project and asset managers will be important.

The After Care Manager will have ideally be working in a similar role for a developer of aftercare / defects team for a consultancy.

Requirements:

  • HND / NVQ in Construction or Surveying preferred and MCIOB preferable

  • Experience within residential projects overseeing post build defects, snagging and small project work

  • Experience in contractor negotiation, specifying and procurement of consultant and contractor teams on small works packages.

  • High level of customer care and good relationship building ability

  • Experience of JCT contracts, building regulations (CDM) and health and safety

  • Personable dementor, technically savvy and methodical
